Acquiescence to killings is convenient to police
PEOPLE’S FEEDBACK: Reading through comments of this YouTube entry regarding the continuing murders of persons, including minors, on pretense of “vigilante killings” would somehow give anyone an idea as to how, even those who lives or has relatives living in Davao City; those who have their relatives also killed; and locals gives tacit acquiescence to these continuing murders there.
The people’s acquiescence, however, has been fueled by the government—particularly the police—inability of solving crimes; for instance, illegal drugs and robberies as they ought to be doing. Thus, murdering any persons suspected of committing crimes or those considered undesirables has become an alternative and expedient form of justice that already cost hundreds of lives there.
This vigilante murders and failure to solve these murders had been to the convenience of the policemen. The deaths of crime suspects, minors or not, reduces the policemen’s workload since they themselves would no longer be investigating crimes, arrest the offenders and collect evidence to prosecute persons involved.
And regardless of whether these “vigilante” murders are solve or not; or those perpetrators riding on motorcycles are identified and held to account, would no longer matters for the policemen also. When there is a tacit approval to these murders, even by the local officials who are supposedly responsible of protecting their people, any demands or outcry to have these murders effectively investigated, prosecuted or solve, may not merit attention.
Society must not be allowed to suffer for convenience of the others; or of authorities inability to do their work.
