Slaughter of Innocents

REPORT REVIEW: “In the Shadows of Davao” is a report written and published in 2004 by Tambayan Center, Inc., a local child rights NGO based in Davao City, and journalist Ryan Anson. A chapter of this report are stories by three mothers and a wife whose sons and husband had been murdered by gunmen riding on motorcycle respectively in the city. Three years later, one mother, Clarita Alia, had her fourth and remaining son killed in the same way. Four years on, this report cannot be openly distributed within the city. Extra judicial killing of persons, including minors, on pretext of “vigilante killings” and “gang war” have continued unbated years on.
